Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League outfit Mathare United have continued to strengthen their squad with the arrival of Ian Omondi and Junior Nyawir ahead of their next league assignment.
On signing Omondi the club said: “We are pleased to confirm the signing of Ian Omondi from FC Talanta. The defender is our third mid-season signing and has put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half-year deal.
“A former Leads United player, Omondi made his Premier League debut with Talanta and leaves after two and a half years with the Communications Authority team. This season, the 25-year-old has featured in nine league matches and was a second-half substitute in our 2-0 victory over Talanta in the first-leg."
On the arrival of Nyawir, the ‘Slum Boys’ said: “Mathare United are delighted to announce the signing of winger John Junior Nyawir from National Super League (NSL) side Sam West Blackboots. The offensive wizard has committed to the club for the next two and a half years.
“Blessed with speed and a wicked left foot, Nyawir leaves the Blackboots having made eight goal contributions in seven games this season. The former Rainbow FC player began his pro career at Gor Mahia, where he broke into the senior team under then-coach Vaz Pinto and went on to be part of two Premier League title successes.”
The statement concluded: “Nyawir becomes our third signing of the mid-season window and joins former Gor Mahia teammate Peter Oudu in committing to the club.”
