Football Kenya Federation (FKF) outfit Mathare United have continued to strengthen their squad with the signing of striker Donald Ange from Kibera Black Stars.
A statement from the club obtained by Pan-Africa Football confirmed: “Mathare United is delighted to announce the signing of striker Donald Ange from Kibera Black Stars. The Congolese forward returns to the club for a third stint and puts pen to paper on a one-and-a-half-year deal.
“Ange has been in terrific form for Black Stars in the National Super League this season and ends his short stay with the club as the NSL’s top scorer with 11 goals. The Kinshasha native first signed for Mathare three years ago during John Kamau’s first stint as head coach.
“In the 2022/23 campaign, under Coach Boniface Musa, Ange had his most prolific top-flight season and scored six league goals. He was well on pace for a shout at the Golden Boot, but a tibia injury cut short his season, and he would eventually join Kariobangi Sharks following our relegation.
“Ange returned briefly to the club mid-way through last season and scored two crucial goals against Silibwet Leons and Black Stars, helping our promotion push.”
Speaking after penning the deal, Ange said: “It is by the grace of God that I was able to score and be the top scorer in the National Super League (NSL). I hope to replicate this form and score even more for Mathare United.”
