Tusker FC captain Charles Momanyi has been named the March Player of the Month after stellar performances that saw him beat out tough competition from his fellow teammates.
Momanyi, who has been a consistent leader both on and off the pitch, emerged victorious following impressive displays that solidified his status as one of the club’s most influential defenders.
The award was a hard-fought battle, with stiff competition from fellow defenders Alex Onchwari, George Kaddu, and goalkeeper Brian Opondo. Additionally, promising Youth Team star David Polepole also made the five-man shortlist, after impressing in the last four games.
Throughout the month of February and March, Momanyi played a pivotal role in Tusker FC’s defensive setup, contributing to three clean sheets in five league matches, commanding the backline, and providing leadership during critical matches.
While accepting his award, Momanyi noted; “I am delighted to have been named the best among the best. The last two months were really tough for us but we fought as a team and everyone gave their all. I wouldn’t have won this award without my teammates and I want to commend them as well for the hard work put in.”
The captain added; “We now go into a very crucial next three months of the season where we want to shape our destiny. We want to give our best for the remaining 10 games of the season and fight for the FKF Premier League title.”
Tusker coach Charles Okere said on the award: “Momanyi has shown great leadership and professionalism this month, and it’s no surprise that he has been recognized with this award. His performances were solid and consistent, and he has set the right example for the entire team."
He added; “The last two months were tough for the team and if you look at the final shortlist of five, we had three defenders and our keeper which shows just how much our backline gave.”
The Player of the Month award is determined through votes cast by the players, technical staff, and team personnel.
