Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League outfit Nairobi City Stars have officially unveiled Salim Babu as the new head coach, with Patrick Gitagia joining him as assistant coach.
A statement from the club confirmed: “Nairobi City Stars is thrilled to welcome Salim Babu as our new head coach, with Patrick Gitagia as his right-hand man.
“With their wealth of experience and winning mentality, they’re here to take Simba wa Nairobi to greater heights for the remainder of the season and beyond. Let’s give them a warm welcome as we charge forward together.”
Meanwhile, Mathare United have confirmed that Kenyan international Musa Masika has put pen to paper on a short-term deal until the end of the season.
The attacking midfielder joined the ‘Slum Boys’ from giants Gor Mahia, with whom he won the league title last season. Masika, who has previously represented KCB and Wazito FC, linked up with head coach John Kamau, whom he played under with the Kenyan Under 20 team.
Speaking on penning the deal, Masika said: “It's a challenge to join a team mid-season and be expected to hit the ground running. Luckily, I am joining a team with a lot of familiar faces. I have worked with the coach before and also have former teammates here, which is making settling much easier.”
Aside from the gaffer, the Laiser Hill Alumnus also linked up with Mohammed Kilume, Eric Mulu and Elli Asieche, his former teammates at both Wazito and KCB.
