Tusker will take on Kenya Police FC in a top of the table Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League fixture that could have a significant impact at the end of the 2024/25 season on Saturday.

The fixture is very important for both sides since defeat for either team will have a negative outcome in their pursuit to wrestle the league title from record champions Gor Mahia. As it stands, Tusker and Police are sitting joint top in the 18-team league table.

Both teams have amassed 37 points but the law enforcers are sitting top because they have a better goal aggregate. Police have won 10 matches, drawn seven and lost two while the Brewers have won 11 matches, drawn four and suffered four defeats.

In the first round meeting, the fixture ended in a 1-1 draw while in the previous campaign, Tusker hauled six points after winning the first meeting 1-0 and the second round meeting 1-0.

Out of seven matches in all competitions, Police have only managed to beat Tusker once – a 3-0 win in the league in 2023. On the other hand, Tusker have managed three wins, while the other three have ended in draws.

In another match on Saturday, new Gor Mahia coach Sinisa Mihic will take charge of his first game when they face Mathare United. The Croatian was appointed to replace the departed Leonardo Martins Neiva, and his first game will prove whether he was the right choice for the job.

In the first round meeting, Gor Mahia clobbered the ‘Slum Boys’ 4-0 in their opening fixture of the season while in the previous campaign, Mathare United won the first round meeting 2-1 before K’Ogalo recovered to beat them 2-1.

Out of the last seven league matches, Gor Mahia have a better record over the ‘Slum Boys’ as they have won six, and lost only one. Gor Mahia are currently sitting third with 31 points from 18 matches while Mathare are lying 14th, two places above the relegation zone, with 21 points from 18 matches.

On Sunday, AFC Leopards will be up against Kariobangi Sharks, Shabana will travel to face struggling Posta Rangers, Mara Sugar will host FC Talanta at Awendo Green Stadium while Ulinzi Stars will be at home against Kakamega Homeboyz.
