Ghanaian midfielder Richard Boadu has joined Libyan club Al Tahaddi FC on a six-month loan. The move comes after his parent club, Club Africain, was unable to register him for the second half of the Tunisia Ligue 1 season due to foreign quota restrictions.
The 26-year-old was expected to play a role in Club Africain’s midfield this season but Tunisia’s regulations on foreign players prevented his inclusion in the squad.
The challenge forced Club Africain to send Boadu on loan to Al Tahaddi FC, which competes in the Libyan Premier League, to ensure he remains active. Tahaddi qualified for the second stage of the Libyan top flight after finishing in a top three position in their group during the first stage, keeping them in contention to compete for honours.
The move provides the former Kotoko midfielder with an opportunity to gain regular playing time and also maintain his form in North African club football. After his loan spell, he is expected to return to Club Africain who indicated that he remains part of the club’s long-term plans.
Al Tahaddi FC, based in Benghazi, will benefit from Boadu’s technical ability and tactical awareness as they push for a strong finish in the Libyan Premier League.
