Enyimba FC veteran striker Brown Ideye has promised goals in Sunday’s CAF Confederation Cup group stage game against Egyptian club Al Masry.
The former Olympiacos star said this when he addressed the press in Nigeria on Saturday regarding their preparation for the Group D match at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
The 2013 AFCON winner said scoring is his business so inevitably he expects to build on his two consecutive game scoring run after having netted one goal each in the 4-1 win over Black Bulls and 2-1 beating of Nasarawa United in the last week, both after coming on as a substitute.
“My job as a striker is to score goals with the support of the team and everyone giving 120 percent. We know how important this game is for the club and us as players. We will do our best tomorrow to make sure that we come out victorious,” he said.
The 36-year-old rejoined his childhood club on December 30 2024 after having spent close to two decades in Europe starring for teams such as Olympiacos, Dynamo Kiev and Montpellier in France.
The bottom-placed Elephants can boost their hopes of a quarterfinal place if they beat the Egyptians who have five points, one point ahead of Enyimba who are separated from third-ranked Black Bulls on goal difference.
Enyimba, then under the tutelage of Yemi Olarenwaju, drew with Al Masry in the first-leg in Egypt then lost 3-0 to Black Bulls before the hiring of coach Stanley Eguma saw the Nigerians bouncing back with a home win over Black Bulls.
Black Bulls meet group leaders Zamalek, who have eight points, on Sunday.
