Uganda Premier League side Express FC have added 18-year-old Jimmy Lagoro to their squad as they gear up for the second half of the season.

Lagoro, a standout talent from King's College Budo caught the attention of Express during the FUFA TV Cup, an initiative by the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) aimed at unearthing and showcasing young talent from traditional schools that are known for their academic excellence.

The competition, now in its second edition, has proven instrumental in spotlighting emerging stars like Lagoro.

After impressing during training sessions with the Red Eagles, the winger who is comfortable operating on either flank earned his place under the keen eye of interim head coach Kaddu Badru Mukasa. “We’ve identified a player with exceptional potential,” Kaddu said while during the brief unveiling ceremony held on Thursday at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo. “It’s now our responsibility to nurture him into a polished footballer.”

The Red Eagles, who finished the first round of the season in fourth place with 25 points (later elevated to third due to KCCA’s penalty for fielding an ineligible player), are nine points behind table leaders Vipers SC. With ambitions to challenge for the title, the club has already started reinforcing its squad.

While the departure of Dauson Mafumu is a notable loss, Express has also signed former SC Villa midfielder Muhammad Kagawa Ssenoga adding depth and experience to their team.
