The Gabonese Football Federation (FEGAFOOT) has finally settled the outstanding salary owed to former head coach Patrice Neveu. The Frenchman had taken his case to FIFA after his contract with the Panthers was terminated in 2023. The matter has now been resolved, with Neveu receiving months of unpaid salary.

In March 2025, a representative for Neveu confirmed that FIFA was handling the case, warning that Gabon risked sanctions if they failed to settle the debt. FEGAFOOT acknowledged at the time that payment was still pending but assured that arrangements were underway to resolve the issue.

Neveu told Gabon's state-owned media outlet, L’Union, that he received his payment on Thursday, April 24. The 71-year-old stated: “The money has indeed been credited to my bank account in France. We will inform FIFA to definitively close this matter.”

FEGAFOOT ultimately paid €522,883.66 to their former national team coach, avoiding potentially severe sanctions from FIFA. With the matter now closed, FEGAFOOT can shift focus to preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup African qualifiers and the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
