Former Turkey international Gokmen Ozdenak has urged Galatasaray to sign another striker in the next transfer window to rival Nigeria forward, Victor Osimhen.
Ozdenak, who himself played for Galatasaray between 1967 and 1980, expressed dissatisfaction over Victor Osimhen in their 2-1 win over Goztepe last weekend despite the Super Eagles star getting on the score sheet.
The Napoli loanee took his scoring tally for the season to thirteen goals in all competitions when he opened the scoring from the spot ten minutes into the game.
Ozdenak has urged The Lion to sign a top-class striker with physicality and athleticism to give the Nigeria international the needed competition in the squad. "Victor Osimhen was not on the field in the Goztepe match. There is zero cooperation in the attack.
"We see that Galatasaray has difficulty against teams that are physically strong and play with contact. So the transfers to be made should be based on the physicality and athleticism that you lack," he told habersarikirmizi.com.
Osimhen has been on the wish list of numerous European clubs like Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea believed to be chasing his signature.
However, a move is unlikely to happen in the January transfer window as the former African Footballer of the Year has vowed to see out his contract at Galatasaray.
The mantle to score more goals falls on Osimhen after Mauro Icardi suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury during a Europa League match against Tottenham Hotspur on November 7, which may rule him out for the remainder of the season.
Galatasaray current lead the Super Lig with 47 points, eight better than second placed Fenerbahce after 17 league games.
