Nigeria forward Victor Osimhen has refused to discuss his future with Turkish Super Lig side Galatasaray following their 2-0 victory against Samsunsport at Samsun 19 May Stadium on Friday night.

The Super Eagles forward was among the goal scorers, scoring the second goal in the 46th minute after Yunus Akgun opened the scores in the 14th minute to help Galatasaray move six points clear at the top of the table.

Speaking after the game, Osimhen was asked about his future with the club, only saying a decision will be made at the end of the season about what will be best for everyone.

“There are always rumors about me, of course. But I prefer to live in the moment. I am enjoying myself right now. I am enjoying both the club and my life here,” said Osimhen as quoted by Galatasaray website.

“The fans have also been incredibly supportive since the first day, all stakeholders within Galatasaray, everyone has helped me. They have always been there for me, not just me, but also my friends and family. Now I will fight for the fifth star with my team, and a decision will be made at the end of the season about what will be best for everyone. Galatasaray will forever be in my heart.”

Discussing the 2-0 win, Osimhen said: “We were a bit rushed in the first half, we actually wanted to show ourselves, how good we are… We started playing fast and forward. We needed to have a bit more ball. We knew our opponent, they were both tough opponents and something that suited their playing style, and in fact our rushing was to their advantage. We played more patiently in the second half. I am also happy with my goal contribution. We need to continue by adding to this. We need to carry this momentum forward.”

He concluded: “The focus is on us right now. We have a responsibility as a team. We want to win. We actually have the quality to win every match. It is not easy, we will face very important opponents. We need to be prepared to overcome these opponents and lift this cup at the end of the season, we just need to fight. We need to give everything when we step on the field. I think we will have the advantage at the end of the season, but as I said, it will not be easy.”

Osimhen and Galatasaray will return to action with a fixture against Bodrum FK at RAMS Park on Friday, 18 April.
