SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt said he was unsurprised by his team’s performance in the 4-1 beating of Kaizer Chiefs in a Betway Premiership on Tuesday evening, describing the result as a reward for consistency.

Hunt said SuperSport have always played well this season, but could not convert scoring chances, something that changed at FNB Stadium against Chiefs.

“It was a good performance but we have played like this all season and there is no difference. It is just the rewards and in football, sometimes it takes longer. The result was the most important thing,” he told SuperSport TV.

On the other hand, Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi described the loss to SuperSport as painful. Strikers Samir Nurkovic and Christian Saile combined to torment their former employers after scoring once each with the other goals coming from Gamphani Lungu and Siphesihle Ndlovu.

Nurkovic put Gavin Hunt’s men ahead with a fine connection of a cross from the right barely after three minutes before Makabi Lilepo eventually equalized for Chiefs.

SuperSport increased their lead to compound the woes for the Glamour Boys who finished the game with 10 players after Gaston Sirino’s 69th minute red card for a second bookable offence.

The sixth win in 18 games took SuperSport’s tally to 20 points in 12th place, five points behind the sixth-placed Chiefs.
