Former Nigeria head coach, Gernot Rohr has named two players who will be very important to the Super Eagles in their World Cup qualifiers.
Rohr, who is now in charge of Benin Republic, was at the helm of the three time African champions for almost six years and now find himself facing his former employers.
Nigeria will be up against Rwanda in Kigali before welcoming Zimbabwe to the Godswill Akpabio stadium in Uyo.
Speaking ahead of Benin’s World Cup qualifiers, Rohr emphasized the need to have his best players available, using the Super Eagles as an example of a weak team without the likes of Moses Simon and Ademola Lookman.
”For games like this you need your best players available. It is the same for most teams because some players make the difference. “If you look at Nigeria for instance despite having so many quality players, they hardly play well without the duo of Lookman and Moses Simon”, he said.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers resume in March with Nigeria faced with must win situations to qualify for the global football showpiece in Mexico, Canada and USA.
