“Ghana football is undergoing a transitional period” - Didi Dramani

Head coach of Ghana’s home-based senior national team Mas Ud Didi Dramani has indicated that the national teams are going through a “transitional phase.”

Dramani steered the Black Galaxies to a horrible 2024 Championship for Africa Nations qualifiers where Ghana lost out to rivals, Nigeria over two legs.

A floppy goalless draw in the first leg against Nigeria at the Accra Sports Stadium on December 22 before a 3-1 slump in the second match at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo a week later, saw Ghana miss the ticket to the next tournament.

That negative feat makes it a double agony for the year 2024 for the West African nation who will also be absent at the next Africa Cup of nations in Morocco. Notwithstanding the poor performance by Didi Dramani’s charges, the former Asante Kotoko coach says, the national teams are undergoing a period of transition.

“I think every team or country sometimes goes through transition phase and I think we are currently in a transitional phase and these are lessons learnt in very good fate. Sometimes we don’t like failure but sometimes failures give the right moment to reflect and bounce back back on the right waves,” said Dramani.

Ghana was looking for a repeat of what happened two years ago when they defeated Nigeria 5-2 on penalty shootouts to qualify for the last edition in Algeria.

It, however, ended as a sweet revenge for the home-based Super Eagles, who will partake in the main tournament next year to be co-hosted in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
