Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko have confirmed the signing of left-back Kwasi Asante. The 29-year-old signed for the Porcupine Warriors on a one-and-a-half-year contract following the successful completion of his medical.

Asante joins the record Ghana Premier League holders with a rich experience having previously played for Hafia Club of Guinea, Simba FC in Tanzania, and Mbabane Swallows in Eswatini.

Head coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum welcomed Asante’s arrival saying: “Everyone knows we’ve been playing with just one recognizable left-back in Patrick Asiedu since October last year and it was essential to strengthen that area.

“Kwasi brings both quality and versatility to our squad. His ability to play multiple positions adds depth to the team, and his wealth of experience will undoubtedly benefit us in key moments.”

Asante said: “Joining Kotoko feels like a homecoming for me. This is a club I’ve admired for years because of its history and passion. When the opportunity came, I didn’t have to think twice because I want to be part of something special here.

“I know the fans have high expectations, and I’m ready to give everything I’ve got to meet them. Competition for places is part of football, and I welcome it because it makes us all better. "I’m here to work hard, contribute to the team, and help Kotoko achieve its goals this season.” He added.

Asante Kotoko currently sit third on the league table with 31 points after the first round with the second round starting at home against Karela United on Sunday, January 26.
