
Ghana will turn attention to the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in March after failing to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco later this year.
The Black Stars played at four World Cups including three consecutive editions in Germany 2006, South Africa 2010 and Brazil 2014 before missing out on the 2018 edition in Russia. The four-time African champions exited the group stage at the 2022 version in Qatar.
The West African nation are currently level on nine points with Comoros in Group I of the African regional qualifiers and Ghana will face Chad and Madagascar in March before returning to action in September for the remaining qualifiers.
One of the deputy coaches appointed by the Ghana Football Association to support head coach Otto Addo, Desmond Offei, says Ghana is hungry to qualify for the finals that will be hosted by Mexico, Canada and USA.
Speaking to Accra based Citi FM, the former Ghana U20 tactician expressed the Black Stars resolve to book a spot for next year’s festival.
“We have a lot of work to do we but I think we’re in a good position to qualify the team for the World Cup and everybody’s hungry and we have a new head of video analyst, we have a psychologist or sports mental coach as you want to call it, so I feel like everybody’s hungry to make sure that we qualify to the World Cup” he said.
