Ghana Premier League: “Accra Lions are more motivated to hurt Kotoko” – Prosper Ogum

The Ghana Premier League week 22 outstanding fixtures will come alive on Wednesday, April 16 with some mouthwatering clashes across various venues.

One of the games to look out for is the encounter between Accra Lions at home to joint leaders Asante Kotoko at the Accra Sports Stadium at 3:00pm with both clubs needing the three points badly.

The Porcupine Warriors, who share 47 points with Gold Stars on top of the table, are bent on securing the three points to keep the dreams of clinching the league title alive and Accra Lions need all three points to increase their survival chances.

Head coach of Asante Kotoko, Prosper Narteh Ogum, has disclosed his side's readiness for the game against Accra Lions.

"We are very prepared after our last game we played. We have tried to have our recovery session, unfortunately, we have to hit the road the following day so there is still an element of stress in terms of fatigue in the players but then we have to be ready for the game on Wednesday and play," he told Asante Kotoko Media.

"We are ready in terms of what we have to offer on the field, tactically we are ready. If you look at Accra Lions, they are a very good side, as at now they are not in a good standing on the league log so they look more motivated to play and win and get out of where they are now..

"While they are trying to stay out of relegation, we are also trying to compete for the league title so it is going to be a closed and interesting game in terms of who wins," said Ogum.

Head coach of Accra Lions, Rainer Kraft has weighed in on the game, stating that, they need to win the game at all costs to double the chances of staying in the Ghana Premier League.

Accra Lions walk into the game from a 2-1 victory against Basake Holy Stars in week 27 and a win will help their chances of pushing away from the drop zone.

"We won against Basake and this should give us confidence for our game against Kotoko which will be a hard encounter for us," he told Accra Lions Media.

Accra Lions sit 16th on the table and desperately need a win to enhance their survival chances.

"Asante Kotoko needs to win to remain on their spot, top of the table. We need a win to remain in our position and try to avoid relegation, so this will be a tough encounter," he continued.

"Of course, Kotoko is a big big favourite in this game."

Accra Lions currently sit 16th on 26 points, two below Karela United and one point adrift of Vision FC after 26 matches this season.
