Accra Lions have not had the best of starts to the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season - recording two wins, seven draws and six defeats in 15 games.
The young and energetic side suffered a painful defeat against giants, Heart of Oak at the WAFA last weekend. They gave away a 2-1 lead to slump to a 3-2 loss after Hearts of Oak’s substitute, Mawuli Wayo notched home two late brace.
They come up against another strugglers and last season’s CAF Confederation Cup semi finalists, Dreams fc at the Tuba Astroturf in Kasoa on Sunday.
Sporting Director of the club, Ibrahim Tanko admits that, it will be a daunting task which they need to surmount at all costs. “We have to go and do our homework well for our next game against Dreams fc,” said Tanko.
“What we have learnt is that, we have to score, if the chance comes and you have to score more goals to win matches. It’s a very tough game against Dreams fc but definitely we are going there to get the three points.”
Accra Lions languish in 16th position with a paltry 13 points same as their next opponent Dreams fc who sit in 17th. Both clubs need the win badly to climb out of the relegation.
