Hearts of Oak proved strong in the first half of their game against Vision FC on Matchday 27 at the Nii Adjei Okraku II Sports Complex on Sunday. However, they settled for a 1-1 draw after conceding early in the second half.

The Phobians, who were ruled out of claiming all three points by a section of the media and fans of the home team, controlled the first half of the encounter. Their opening goal came after Ransford Osei’s corner kick was cleared with Mohammed Hussein latching on to send in a cross into Vision FC penalty area.

A scramble for the ball put Kelvin Osei Asibey in pole position to tap in for Hearts of Oak in the 40th minute.

The home side came close to finding the equalizer but Benjamin Asare read the situation with finesse to save the moment for the Phobians on the stroke of half time. With the three minutes of added exhausted, Hearts of Oak went into the half time break with a slim 1-0 lead.

Hearts of Oak’s second half looked swift when striker Afriyie Boateng failed to head home Mawuli Wayo’s perfect cross from the right side of attack.

Vision FC quickly turned the heat on the Phobians with Adjetey Sowah’s stunning curler outside the penalty area heading straight into Benjamin Asare’s left hand corner for the equalizer on the 47th minute.

The home side dictated the pace immediately after finding the equalizer, pinning the record FA Cup holders into their own half.

However, Seth Osei made a solo run in the dying embers of the game but his feeble shot was not threatening enough to pull a winner for Hearts of Oak with the result remaining at 1-1 in full time. Hearts of Oak drop into 5th with 41 points from 26 matches.

In the other top liner of the weekend, Asante Kotoko left it late to equally draw 1-1 against Bechem United at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday. Notwithstanding the result, Kotoko remain at the top of the table on 47 points same as Gold Stars who defeated Young Apostles by 1-0 at the Duns Park on Sunday.
