Justice Blay’s sublime strike gave Asante Kotoko a 1-0 heads up in the first half against Heart of Lions at the Kpando Sports Stadium on Sunday evening.

The midfielder pounced on a free kick to plant the ball behind Lions goalkeeper, Lawrence Osei just on the stroke of half time.

The home side dominated possession, creating clear scoring chances but had Kotoko keeper Frederick Asare foiling all their efforts with Blay’s powerful strike separating the two sides into the half time break.

The visitors retained the first half performance with control of the game in every department of the field.

Heart of Lions found the equalizer with 67 minutes of the second half played when centre-back Fawzi Ali headed Ishmael Addo’s well taken free kick from the left side of the field. The 29-year-old scored on a silver platter after catching Kotoko defenders ball watching with a free header.

The complexion of the score line remained 1-1 after full time with the Porcupine Warriors remaining at the top of the league table with 46 points, two better than Gold Stars who lost 2-0 to Dreams FC at the Tuba Astro Turf.

In another top liner, record FA Cup holders Hearts of Oak returned to winning ways with a slim 1-0 victory against Medeama at the Accra Sports Stadium Stadium. Raphael Amponsah’s only goal gave the 2000 CAF Champions League winners all three points, pushing them into 3rd on the table on 40 points from 25 matches.
