Nations FC coach Kassim Ocansey Mingle, has revealed the game plan that helped his side tame Asante Kotoko on Sunday.
Nations put two goals past the Porcupine Warriors at the Dr. Kyei Sports Conplex in week 28, propelling them into second on the league log. Nafiu Sulemana’s sublime opener in the 15th minute plus Emmanuel Annor’s second on the stroke of half-time wrapped up the win for the home side.
Speaking after the game, the experienced trainer revealed what he told his players ahead of the game. "We came with our game plan to get the goals, and it worked to perfection," Mingle said.
"I told my players they will have to win this game if they want to be title contenders. So they were all motivated, and they all played their role well. "We came to play and win, that was our strategy coming into the game," he added.
Nations FC are now in the second position with 51 points - two behind leaders Gold Stars and will travel to Berekum Chelsea in the Matchday 29 games at the Golden City Park next weekend.
Head coach of Asante Kotoko, Prosper Narteh Ogum has come under harsh criticisms following the two consecutive losses and is now facing the sack at the two time African champions.
The former West Africa Football Academy coach has been reacting to the back-to-back defeat. "Back-to-back defeats ain't the best, but we as a technical team have to motivate the players irrespective of what's coming from the outside. We're with them and we know what we can do," he said.
"They are the same people who went so many matches unbeaten, so it tells you that we can do it. We just have to sit down and look at what we can do to reverse the situation." "The league is not over, so we keep working, keep playing the games."
Kotoko lost by 3-0 against Accra Lions at the Accra Sports Stadium in an outstanding week 22 fixture before succumbing to Nations to further dent their title chances. Asante Kotoko now sit 4th on the league log with 47 points and will host Aduana FC in the Matchday 29 games at the Baba Yara Stadium.
