Record Ghana Premier League holders, Asante Kotoko managed to claw a point in match week 16 at the TnA Park against Medeama SC on Sunday in the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League.
The Porcupine Warriors were looking for an important win to keep the top four chase very much alive and hat dream was sparked by a header from returnee striker, Kwame Opoku on the 44th minute.
Kwame Opoku stunned the home fans with the opener he leapt high to connect Andrews Ntim’s fine cross from the right side of attack.
Kotoko’s hopes were however shattered when Medeama cancelled Kotoko’s lead when defender, Kamaradini Mamudu leveled on 64th minute which eventually kept the entire proceedings at 1-1 at full time.
Prosper Narteh Ogum who led Kotoko to the Ghana Premier League title in the 2020/21 season said that, the score line did not reflect the true nature of the game.
“I think we played well, we had more obvious goal scoring opportunities to score, we contained them especially in the first half and then the second half too we tried to catch them on the counter which on a few occasions we were able to do so.
“I think if you ask me, we had more goal scoring opportunities to score and it’s not a true reflection of the score line at least we should have won this game,” Prosper Narteh Ogum said.
The two time African champions per the draw at Medeama sit 6th on the league table on 28 points from 16 matches with the last round of first round games set for next weekend.
