Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko’s quest to get closer to the top of the table will face a stiff challenge on Friday against fellow contenders Bibiani Gold Stars.
The Porcupine Warriors have collected an impressive 24 points from 14 league games in 5th spot and are seated 3 points behind first and second placed teams, Heart of Lions and Gold Stars.
Bechem United and Nations FC are 2 points and a point above the record Ghana Premier League holders. A slip by the above clubs and a win for Kotoko will see the two-time African club champions leap into the top three.
Asante Kotoko coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has declared his outfit ready for the much-anticipated clash against Gold Stars at the Baba Yara Stadium.
“Goldstars is a very big team, they have great players and have one of the respected coaches in the person of Frimpong Manso, whom I look up to so much. He respects me so much and I also respect him.”
“I think it is going to be a tactical game with a lot of aggression. The aggression component is going to be very high because everybody would want to win the game."
“So it’s going to be a very aggressive game on Friday but then, we are ready. We only have to structure our training program very well so that we get it done," he added.
On the heels of Asante Kotoko are rivals Accra Hearts of Oak who are on 22 points in 6th and are away to strugglers Accra Lions at the WAFA Park on Sunday, December 29.
