Asante Kotoko will travel as guests of newly promoted side, Young Apostles in an outstanding Ghana Premier League match on Wednesday, March 19.
The delayed week 20 fixture is an opportunity for the Porcupine Warriors to keep their spot at the top of the table and head coach of the club, Prosper Narteh Ogum looks into the game.
“We are going there with a confident, winning mentality, that’s what we will take there,” Prosper Narteh Ogum told Kotoko TV. “We believe that, we are capable of playing very well, we are capable of staying very disciplined defensively, we are capable of unlocking their defence, create the chances and score.
“So we are very determined, very confident and we believe that we can create the chances and score.” He added.
“I think that, it has been like that over the years when it comes to competing for the league trophy in Ghana. Always the point gaps are close to each other, it’s about keeping the momentum going so if we want to still be at the top, all we have to do is that we win games and we will still be able to keep our position at the summit of the log.”
The record Ghana Premier League holders sit top of the table with 38 points from 21 games played. On the heels of the two time African champions are Gold Stars and Heart of Lions with 37 points in second and third respectively.
Kotoko’s sworn rivals, Hearts of Oak sit 4th on the log with 36 points after losing 1-0 to Dreams fc last weekend. In another fixture, head coach of Hearts of Oak will look to recover from their 1-0 defeat at home to Dreams fc last weekend and come good against Bechem United on Wednesday in week 20 game.
The Phobians are guests of the Hunters at the Nana Fosu Gyearbour Park on Wednesday, March 19 in an outstanding fixture of the Ghana Premier League.
Head coach of Hearts of Oak Aboubakar Ouattara has shared his thoughts ahead of their trip to Bechem United. “We have good preparations, no problem. Coming from the loss at home, everything is possible in football. We lost at home, why can’t we come away and win, everything is possible.
“I have the confidence on this process v=because it is the league. This 34 matches and now we have just played 21 matches and we have another 13 matches to play.
“Thirteen matches is supposed to be 39 points and we are fighting and we have six to seven teams which are fighting to get more points.
“That is normal and we hope we can come and win outside. I am talking to the boys, I encourage them. Everybody is disappointed unfortunately but we are trying to bring them up to go and fight for the points, we need the points.” Aboubakar Ouattara told Hearts TV.
Hearts of Oak are fourth on the league table with 36 points after clearing 21 league games. They are just a point behind second place clubs, Gold Stars and Heart of Lions and two adrift of leaders and sworn rivals, Asante Kotoko.
