Record Ghana FA Cup holders, Hearts of Oak remained unbeaten in four straight matches following their 1-1 draw against reigning FA Cup champions Nsoatreman at the Legon Sports Stadium on Saturday evening.
It was a worthwhile encounter where the visitors smashed in the opener with just 13 minutes played from the boot of big striker Stephen Diyou. The celebration was however short lived for last season’s CAF Confederation Cup campaigners when midfielder Salim Adams swept in a sweet free kick from 25-yards to draw level for the Phobians.
None of the sides were able to find the back of the net through to the full throttle of the week 12 fixture. The draw leaves Hearts of Oak in 6th on 19 points. Hearts of Oak Coach, Aboubakar Ouatarra was on hand to speak at the post match:
“I’m not satisfied with the performance but it is football. I know this team [Nsoatreman] are coming with determination.
“Me I don’t understand today but it is football, it can happen, everything can happen in football but one point no problem. But I’m not fully satisfied because this match we should win easily but football is not one plus one."
“I don’t blame the players, if you put one strategy and it doesn’t work well, I can’t blame the players. We take it like that, we are going back to work again and to correct the mistakes from me and the technical, everybody.” Aboubakar Ouatarra said.
Elsewhere at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park in Dormaa, Asante Kotoko chalked their first win in as many as five matches with a 2-0 victory against Aduana Stars in a game marred by hooliganism from supporters.
An early first half goal by Patrick Asiedu plus a second in the dying embers of the second half separated the record Ghana Premier League holders from the two time champions at full time on Sunday. The hard fought victory pushes the Porcupine Warriors up to 7th position on 18 points - one less than bitter rivals, Hearts of Oak.
In another tough fixture, Bibiani Gold Stars returned to the top of the league table after recording a convincing 2-0 victory at the Duns Park against newly promoted club, Vision FC. Gold Stars now have 23 points from 12 matches - one better than Nations FC and two ahead of Heart of Lions and Medeama SC.
