Head coach of Asante Kotoko Prosper Narteh Ogum has revealed the low level energy exhibited by his charges despite their 2-1 victory against Dreams fc in week 14 of the Ghana Premier League.

The Porcupine Warriors victory at the Tuba Astroturf on Saturday made it two straight wins after the record league holders defeated arch rivals, Hearts of Oak by 1-0 in week 13 at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Prosper Narteh Ogum said in a post-match press conference: “I don’t think we were down in terms of strength and speed, we were down in terms of endurance; we lost our structure somewhere along the line and sometimes when you lose your structure, it makes it look like we don’t have the endurance to continue.

“But when we did the substitutions, I think we had some solidity in the middle, we had some balance, we had some stability and we got the game going especially in the last 15 minutes.”

He also noted that the energy exerted in the Hearts of Oak game was expected to have an effect. “You play a big game like Hearts of Oak, they exerted a lot of energy on that day so you expect energy levels to drop but then to me, it wasn’t that significant,” he added.

Asante Kotoko currently sit 5th on the league table with 24 points – two better than rivals, Hearts of Oak after 14 matches played in the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League.
