Ghana’s top sides Hearts and Kotoko complete key signings on transfer deadline day

Ghana Premier League giants, Asante Kotoko completed another major signing on deadline day, Wednesday, 22nd December, roping in the service of defender, Michael Sefah.


Sefah joined the record Ghana Premier League holders from Division One League club, Port City FC to help strengthen the squad for second round of the league season which returns this weekend.


The acquisition of Sefah takes Kotoko's tally of new signings this transfer window to six. He joins Sampson Eduku, Kwame Opoku, Kwasi Asante, Daniel Adrian Adjetey and Isaac Mintah in a busy recruitment period for the two time African Champions.


Speaking on his move, Sefah expressed gratitude for the opportunity to wear the red jersey and vowed to meet the high expectations of the club’s loyal supporters. The 29-year-old has top-flight experience, having previously played for Liberty Professionals and Medeama SC in the Ghana Premier League.


He also had a spell at Indian club BSS Sporting before returning to Ghana to sign for Port City. In other transfers, Hearts of Oak bolstered their squad with the acquisition of talented midfielder Kwesi Asmah from second-tier side Na God FC.


The two clubs reached an agreement on a transfer fee of 40,000 Ghana Cedis, with Asmah completing his medical on Tuesday to finalize the move.


The young and dynamic midfielder is known for his energy, versatility, and ability to influence the game in both defensive and attacking roles.


His addition to Hearts' midfield is expected to strengthen the team as they continue their campaign for success in the ongoing season. He becomes the Phobian’s second signing after the grabbed former AshantiGold forward, Seth Osei.


This move highlights Hearts' commitment to investing in promising talent to enhance their squad depth and maintain their competitive edge in the Ghana Premier League.
