French Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyonnais has confirmed that Ernest Nuamah has injured the ACL in his left knee. The Ghanaian winger was stretchered off during their Round 28 league match against Lille at the Groupama Stadium.
Nuamah lasted only seven minutes on the pitch before being replaced by Rayan Cherki. The 21-year-old pacy winger underwent further assessment on his left knee, and the outcome was a serious one. The Lyon medical team confirmed that Nuamah ruptured his left anterior cruciate ligament, effectively ending his season.
In his second season with the Southern France outfit, Nuamah scored three league goals and provided one assist. He has also become a regular starter for the Ghana national team in recent times. His injury will be a significant blow to Lyon, who are vying for a spot in the next edition of the UEFA Champions League.
Lyon will face Manchester United in the UEFA Europa League quarter-final this coming Thursday without the talented Nuamah.
