Former Ghana assistant coach Maxwell Konadu has called on the nation to exercise patience with head coach Otto Addo.
The former Borussia Dortmund forward has regained confidence in Ghanaians after the Black Stars recorded consecutive wins in their last two FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar last month. The four-time African champions defeated Chad by 5-0 in Accra before dispatching Madagascar by 3-0 at the Al Hoceima Stadium in Morocco.
Ghana went top of the Group I standing with 15 points after six matches with the qualifiers returning in September and Maxwell Konadu believes Addo needs time to build a stronger squad to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Canada, USA and Mexico.
“Ghanaians adore football; when things go well, they lavish praise on you; when things go wrong, the country becomes split, and that is how the game has sadly become,” he told Akoma FC.
“We simply need to be patient occasionally (on Otto Addo) but how many individuals can be patient? Today's generation will not be patient with you,” Konadu added.
The Black Stars irked Ghanaians after failing to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted by Morocco later this year. The finished bottom of Group F with just three points from six qualifying games behind Angola, Sudan and Niger.
