Petro de Luanda, leaders of Angola's top flight Girabola, are now within reach of second placed Wiliete following Sunday's 1-1 draw at home against Bravos do Maquis.
The reigning Angolan club champions remain undefeated this season but surprise package Wiliete, spurred by the goals of Girabola leading scorer Kaporal, continue to keep pace with Angola's dominant club. It appeared that Petro would stroll to victory after a curling free kick from midfielder Megue put the hosts ahead just before halftime.
However the visitors would rally and snatch a point away from home. In the 66th minute, direct play from the defense led to a break for Bravos and a low cross found former Cape Town City striker Jó Paciência wide open at the far post for an easy tap-in.
Petro return to action next Sunday with a home clash against Luanda City before facing Wiliete in a showdown between the main title contenders. Bravos are now in fifth place following Sunday's result.
