Petro de Luanda now have some breathing room at the top of Angola's top division Girabola following Sunday's 3-1 comeback victory over local adversaries Luanda City.

The top division newcomers, in danger of relegation, played with urgency and surprised hosts Petro by taking the lead before halftime. The favorites woke up at halftime and scored three goals without reply to claim all three points.

Honduran attacker Jonathan Toro leveled the match in the 52nd minute by running onto an accurate long ball from experienced central defender Pedro Pinto. Striker Julinho fired in a powerful finish in the 70th minute to give the Angolan giants their first lead of the match.

Portuguese midfielder Pedro Aparicio, a revelation this season after arriving from Moreirense, added one more in the final ten minutes for Petro who now lead Wiliete by five points. Petro's closest challengers were held to a 1-1 draw at Bravos do Maquis before they host Petro in an anticipated duel next Saturday.
