European club football is getting back into full swing after several of the world's top leagues took time off for the holiday season. Germany's Bundesliga and La Liga were among the competitions to return to full match days.
However it is French Ligue 1 where we turn our focus this week on Nice forward Evann Guessand. The 23-year-old born in Ajaccio recently decided to represent Ivory Coast where he appeared in five of The Elephants' six qualifying matches for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. Guessand scored his 8th Ligue 1 goal this season, fifth best in the league to go along with four assists in an outstanding campaign so far.
Watch Guessand's goal from the weekend as well as all over goal contributions from African players from mainland Europe's four major leagues below.
