Betway Premiership side Golden Arrows have confirmed the reappointment of Manqoba Mngqithi as their new head coach.
Mngqithi, 53, returns to the club for a third stint, taking over from interim duo Musa Bilankulu and Kagisho Dikgacoi who had been in charge for the past two months following the departure of Mabhuti Khanyeza.
Golden Arrows edged out Rwandan giants APR FC to secure the services of the experienced tactician, who boasts a strong track record in South African football. Notably, he guided Arrows to their only major top-flight title in history, the 2009 MTN 8 trophy. Mngqithi returns to football after his dismissal earlier this season from Mamelodi Sundowns where he spent over ten years as an assistant and head coach.
With the club currently sitting 11th on the log with 20 points, just three points above the relegation zone, Mngqithi faces the immediate task of stabilizing the team and steering them to safety.
His first test on the touchline will be a tough encounter against his former side, Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday at Hammarsdale Stadium.
