Golden Arrows coach Manqoba Mngqithi says he intends to convince South Africa national team coach Hugo Broos to give Arrows midfielder Velemseni Ndwandwe a chance to stake his claim in Bafana Bafana's colours.

Mngqithi said this in a post-match interview with the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) after Arrows' 2-1 win over Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday.

"I believe he is national team material, and I will try the best I can to also speak to Hugo just to look at him because I honestly think he is in a class of his own-–very powerful defensively and very intelligent," he said.

Mngqithi disclosed that he even wanted to sign Ndwandwe while still in charge of Mamelodi Sundowns before he was relieved of his duties. Miguel Cardoso is now in charge of Sundowns.

"The way I rate him, I think he could easily play for any team in this country, and it's not something that I have only seen now that I'm working for Golden Arrows. I think, if you can speak to him, he knows how much I have always wanted to have him around – but unfortunately, sometimes these things don't happen the way you want," he added.

The Arrows coach told SABC that he has always been a big admirer of the midfielder, saying he is capable of playing for any team at the highest level.
