Botswana Football Association (BFA) has organized a golf tournament to fundraise for the Zebras’ participation in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals later this year.
In a statement, BFA says the golf tournament will take place at Standard Bank Golf Club in Gaborone to mobilise resources for the Zebras and other football teams.
“With AFCON 2025 on the horizon, Botswana's national teams are gearing up to represent the country on the grandest footballing stage in Africa,” BFA’s statement reads.
“However, such a significant tournament requires extensive preparation, including training camps, travel arrangements, equipment, and logistical support. To ensure our teams are adequately equipped and ready to compete, BFA is calling individuals, businesses and organisations to contribute to this cause by participating in or sponsoring the golf day fundraiser.”
The Zebras were drawn in Group D alongside the Democratic Republic of Congo, Benin and Senegal at the AFCON finals scheduled for Morocco. Before AFCON in December 2025, the Zebras will compete in the World Cup qualifiers with coach Morena Ramoreboli calling up a provisional squad of 49 players.
The Zebras are preparing for a Group C game against Algeria on March 17 then Somalia seven days later. The group also comprises Mozambique, Guinea, and Uganda.
The Zebras will begin preparations for the March qualifiers while aiming to secure a spot in the prestigious continental tournament.
