Guinea Bissau-bound Mozambique boss spoils passengers with replica jerseys

Passengers aboard Mozambique’s Mambas flight bound for Guinea-Bissau had a pleasant surprise on Saturday when Mozambique Football Federation (FMF) president Feizal Sidat gave them replica jerseys.

Sidat spoiled the passengers aboard Euro Atlantic Flight from Maputo with a gift of a jersey and a pin with the Mozambique flag each. FMF has shared a video on its Facebook page showing the 20-plus passengers looking visibly surprised by the sight of Sidat leaving his seat to distribute the gifs to each person on board.

A flight attendant had called Sidat to announce the good news to the unsuspecting passengers and he declared that: “We will qualify,” before distributing the home red jerseys. Speaking on arrival at Olsavado Airport in Bissau, the FMF president said the Mambas are determined to seal their place at the next AFCON edition.

"We have the right ingredients to make a good result. We will qualify,” he declared.

The Mambas are in Guinea Bissau to conclude their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers for Group I against the hosts while needing a win at all costs to secure qualification following Friday’s home 0-1 loss to Mali. The Eagles won the game through Kamory Doumbia’s 19th minute goal at Estadio do Zimpeto in Maputo to go three points ahead of the Mambas who have eight points, three points behind Guinea Bissau. Eswatini anchor the table with two points.
