Kaizer Chiefs defender Happy Mashiane has called on his teammates to be wary of SuperSport United whom they face in a Betway Premiership fixture at FNB Stadium on Tuesday.
Amakhosi will head into the fixture having qualified for the quarter-finals of the domestic Nedbank Cup following a 3-0 demolition of Chippa United on Saturday. In the league, they won their last fixture, a 1-0 result away to Stellenbosch.
“Nobody can say playing against SuperSport is an easy game,” Mashiane said as quoted by the club’s official website. “We are working very hard behind the scenes in order to continue making progress.
“The mood in the camp is good. We have some new players who recently came in and they bring a different dimension to the team from their experiences playing football in other parts of the world. We know Tashreeq (Morris) has been around. (Thabo) Cele and ((Glody) Lilepo have come from overseas and brought their experience to us. They are integrating into the setup nicely.”
With defender Thatayaone Ditlhokwe leaving Chiefs for Al-Ittihad in Libya, Mashiane will be drafted to replace him against SuperSport United. Speaking about it, he said: “Obviously, I hadn’t played a lot in a while.
“So coming back into that big game was a big motivation for me. I had to go in and give my best. With the guidance of the coach and his technical staff, I felt confident and it turned out great.
“Personally, I am doing everything I can to give the coach what he wants from me.”
On his message to the fans, Mashiane said: “I want to thank our wonderful fans for always being there for us. We love how they cheer us up with encouragement and we will really appreciate a big turnout at FNB to support us against SuperSport. It really helps us. Without them, we are nothing.”
Chiefs are currently lying sixth on the league table with 25 points from 17 matches. They have won seven matches, drawn four and lost six.
