Harambee Starlets and Kenya Police Bullets star Lydia “Ozil” Akoth signs for Yanga Princess

Reigning Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Women's Premier League Most Valuable Player and Harambee Starlets Midfielder Lydia “Ozil” Akoth has joined Yanga Princess from Kenya Police Bullets.


A statement from Police confirmed Akoth’s exit: “Lydia Akoth -ozil as you embark on this new chapter of your journey, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude for everything you’ve done for the team,” read part of the statement.


“Your talent, dedication, and passion have left an indelible mark, and we are proud to have been part of your story. Wishing you all the best in this next phase of your career. Keep shining.”


The midfielder, known for her dribbling skills, helped Police Bullets FC win their maiden league title in an unbeaten debut season, scoring eight goals and providing 10 assists in 18 matches.


She led the team to the CECAFA Zonal final for the CAF Women’s Champions League, where they lost 1-0 to Ethiopia's CBE. Akoth debuted for the Harambee Starlets in October 2024 and previously played for Rising Starlets in 2021.


On her way to being named MVP, the former Wadadia and Zetech Sparks ace scored eight goals and provided ten assists in 18 matches, leading the law enforcers to victory in an unbeaten run.
