Ghana’s two most glamorous clubs Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko will present a joint petition to the Ghana Football Association to call for enhanced security measures at the nation’s various premier league venues.

The joint letter by the two clubs would include making other demands from the Ghana Football Association after they held a meeting in the capital, Accra on February 5.

Their position come following the violent incident that erupted in a week 19 Ghana Premier League match between Nsoatreman and Asante Kotoko at the Nana Konamansah II Park on Sunday, February 2 where Kotoko supporter, Yaw Francis was stabbed to death.

The occurrence has sent shockwaves down the spine of Ghana football fraternity, eliciting rage from club administrators, Sports Ministry, football fans and any more.

A press release by Hearts of Oak reads:

The week 20 fixtures of the Ghana Premier League has been postponed but spokesperson of the Football Association, Henry Asante Twum in an interview with Max FM, indicated that the resumption of the league is unknown.

"For now, the resumption of the Premier League is unknown. The FA has decided to hold onto the competition until further notice

“At this point, the other competitions have not recorded any incident. Nothing has happened in the other leagues. And then also, you don't have to forget there's always the calendar to follow," he said.

Kotoko and Nsoatreman have halted football activities for their senior teams with the Porcupine Warriors allowing the youth team and players recovering from injury to have access to the training facility.
