Accra Hearts of Oak recorded a comfortable 3-0 victory against second tier club, Home Stars in the MTN FA Cup round 32 encounter at the Legon Sports Stadium on Sunday.
The record holders of the competition showed grit and looked better than their opponent from the blast of the whistle which culminated in the convincing win.
Former Gold Stars forward, Mawuli Wayo shot the millennium champions into the lead in the second half after a barren first department. Wayo latched on to a well laid pass from Kwabena Afriyie Boateng outside the goal area before planting the ball behind for the opener.
Wayo said: “So glad, I found the back of the net today, taking my tally to three (3) , making me the leading scorer in this year's MTN FA cup, so far.
“I am most grateful to the Almighty, the playing body, technical men, supporters, my family, and all and sundry who has in diverse ways supported my journey this far,” Wayo wrote on Facebook.
Enoch Esubonteng scored the second goal with a sweeping strike before Kwabena Boateng Afriyie iced the cake for the 2000 CAF Champions League winners.
The gritty forward who can be deployed in the wings, has scored three goals in the FA Cup, making him top the chat so far. He has proved to be a super substitute for Phobians, scoring vital goals in the Ghana Premier League where the millennium champions sit 5th with 28 points from 16 league games.
