Striker Juliet Nalukenge marked her debut for Kayserispor Women Football with a goal in a 1-1 draw against Golbasi Belediye Spor on Sunday in the Turkish 2nd division.
Nalukenge, who recently joined the Turkish club last month, made an immediate impact by scoring a crucial goal to give Kayserispor the lead before the match ended in a stalemate. The fixture was part of the third round of the promotional playoffs, with both teams fighting for a place in the topflight league.
Speaking with Swift Sports after her dream debut, Nalukenge expressed her desire to keep finding the back of the net and help her team push for promotion. "I’m so glad that I got off to a scoring start. I want to score as many goals as I can as I settle in properly," she said.
Nalukenge’s move to Kayserispor saw her become the second Ugandan player at the club, joining forward Laki Otandeka Kanyesigye who arrived from Doncaster Rovers Belles early last month.
The former Uganda U17 captain has now played for three clubs since leaving Uganda in 2021, having previously featured for Apollon Ladies and AMOK Chrysomolia (on loan) in Cyprus. Nalukenge will be looking to build on her impressive start when Kayserispor hosts Sakarya Kadin FK on Saturday, March 8, as the promotional playoffs continue.
