Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko have tied down dependable midfielder Justice Blay with a contract extension. The rugged midfielder who are cemented his place in coach Prosper Ogum’s squad and will stay with the record Ghana league holders until 2026.
Blay’s previous contract was set to run out this year but his glowing performances set the stage for successful negotiations to prolong his stay for a further year and a half.
The club announced on its social media: “We are excited to announce that Vice-Captain Justice Blay has signed a new deal to stay with Asante Kotoko for an additional one and a half years. This extension reflects Blay’s unwavering commitment to the club and his desire to help us achieve our goals.”
Blay had an initial loan spell with Kotoko during the 2019/2020 season from Medeama SC, making an immediate impact scoring two goals in 12 league games. He made a permanent transfer to the Porcupine Warriors in the 2021/2022 season following a stellar output during his loan stint.
Blay expressed his joy at signing for the two time African champions. “Kotoko is my home,” Blay stated. “I’m grateful for the trust the club has shown in me and the incredible support from the fans. I’m ready to continue giving my all for this badge.” Blay told Kotoko’s media.
The hard tackling midfielder has featured in 12 out of 15 Ghana Premier League matches, scoring once.
