Senegal international Iliman Ndiaye returned from injury to score from the spot as Everton held Arsenal at home to a 1-1 draw on Saturday afternoon.
It was the Gunners who silenced the Goodison Park faithful in the 34th minute with Belgium forward Leandro Trossard opening the scoring from Raheem Sterling’s assist.
The record English FA Cup holders enjoyed the lion's share of ball possession, controlling every department of the field through to the end of the first half of the game.
A return from recess saw a slightly different Evertong side coming out of their shells in a bid to find the equalizer. Ndiaye, who made a return from the treatment room, made no mistake in scoring from the spot after a VAR check awarded the Toffees a penalty on the 49th minute for a foul committed on Jack Harrison by Myles Lewis-Skelly.
The 25-year-old, who was substituted for Ashley Young on the 75th minute, increased his season’s tally to 7 goals from 27 league games.
Everton moved into 14th position on 35 points from 31 matches with their next game away at third placed Nottingham Forest on April 12.
