Ghana’s senior female team defeated Senegal by 1-0 in the first of two international friendlies between the teams in Dakar on Saturday, April 5.

The Black Queens are on a nine day training tour of the West African nation to prepare for the upcoming Women's Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco later this year.

Ghana’s only goal came in the 24th minute when Evelyn Badu jumped above the Teranga Lionesses defence to head home a well laid cross from the left side of the field.

The Ghanaians were dealt a blow mid-way into the game when Anasthasia Achiaa was given her matching orders after picking a second yellow card on the 63rd minute.

The solitary header by Evelyn Badu separated the two sides, boosting coach Kim Lars Björkegren’s confidence ahead of the second game against the same opponent on Tuesday, April 8.

Ghana’s nine day tour of Senegal is part of the Ghana Football Association’s plans to help strengthen the side before the Women's AFCON finals in July this year.
