Head coach of Ghana’s senior female team Kim Lars Björkegren has picked some positives from the two international friendlies against Senegal.

The Black Queens nailed the Teranga Lionesses by 1-0 in the first game courtesy Evelyn Badu’s header despite being a player down. The Black Queens’ confidence booster from the first fixture was however bruised in the reverse encounter when Hapsatou Diallo headed Senegal’s only goal and the eventual winner late in the game.

Notwithstanding the mixed results, Kim Lars Bjorkegren, has revealed his determination to improve the performance of the team following two eye-opening friendly matches.

Speaking in his post-match interview after the second friendly on Tuesday, Coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren said he believes his side can play much better. “I think we can play better football. That’s the part I’m going to take with me. We are also in the process that we have started to building with the defense. Now we are starting to build the midfield and how we can connect to the attacking part. In these two games, we couldn’t do that.

So I think that will be my job in the next camp to connect all the pieces. If we do that, we will be a much better team. But I think the performances could be better, even if we won the first one,” Kim Lars Bjorkegren said.

The Black Queens are in Senegal for a nine day training tour to help fine tune the squad ahead of the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted by Morocco in July.
