Iraq Stars League: Niger star Oumarou, Tanzania striker Msuva score

Niger national team midfielder Youssouf Oumarou built his club career reputation in North Africa and a move to Iraqi football with Al Karma SC has seen the veteran continue to impress in the Arabic-speaking world. The 32-year-old scored his 6th goal of the season on Monday as Al-Karma defeated Al Najaf 3-0.


The Niamey native arrived to volley in a corner kick, doubling Karma's advantage early in the second half. Karma move into 8th place on the Iraqi Stars League table and midfielder Oumarou, able to contribute in both attacking and defensive roles for club and country, is well established as trusted player in the middle of the park.


Tanzania national team forward Simon Msuva also got on the scoresheet on Monday for his club Al Talaba in a 1-1 draw with Naft Missan.


After a difficult few seasons in his club career with Algerian club JS Kabylie as well as Saudi second division side Al Najma, the 31-year-old Taifa Star is producing regularly in Iraq. Msuva now has eleven goals this season for Talaba who are in 4th place on the table.


He continues to be a regular contributor for Tanzania, scoring the crucial goal to secure qualification for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.


Less than ten matches remain for most clubs in the Iraqi top division which is becoming a home for several notable African players. Oumarou and Msuva join Ethiopia national team midfielder Gatoch Panom as players from the continent who are making positive contributions.
