Asante Kotoko head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has talked about the positives surrounding the capture of top striker Isaac Mintah to augment the existing front line of the club.
The Porcupine Warriors announced the signing of the 26-year-old on a free transfer on Thursday during the ongoing January transfer window. Mintah has signed a deal that will see him play in the second half of the campaign and will keep him at the club for the next two seasons.
Speaking on Mintah’s signing, Ogum highlighted the forward’s qualities: “His eye for goal and ability to link up with teammates make him a perfect fit for our style of play. We’re excited to have him onboard and look forward to seeing him do well for us.”
Mintah joins the record Ghana Premier League holders with a rich experience having had stints at two-time league champions Aduana Stars as well as Legon Cities. The arrival of Mintah adds firepower to Kotoko’s attack as he joins a competitive forward line that includes Kwame Opoku, Albert Amoah and Sampson Eduku.
The two-time African club champions will conclude the first half of the Ghana Premier League with a home game against Vision FC on Sunday at the Baba Yara Stadium and Prosper Narteh Ogum has discussed the game.
“I think it should be a turning point for us in terms of our ambition to compete for the trophy, it should be a turning point for us. We are playing two games at home, we should make the very best out of these opportunities. Try and play well in terms of performance, try and make sure that the chances we create, we convert them. It’s all about the three points."
“These vital six points I’m sure when we get them, it will inspire us a lot in terms of our approach at training and our approach in subsequent games. It is a good opportunity and I think we should grab it,” the coach remarked. The Porcupine Warriors sit 6th on the league table with 28 points, same as rivals Hearts of Oak with 16 matches played this season.
