AC Milan's Algerian midfielder Ismaël Bennacer has been recovering from a significant injury to his right leg which required surgery earlier this year. Initially, his absence was estimated at four months and his last appearance on the pitch came when he played 79 minutes in a 2024 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match for Algeria against Equatorial Guinea in early September.

In an interview with Qatar's Al Kass TV, Bennacer shared updates about his recovery journey:

"I will return to Milan soon to continue my rehabilitation. After that, I hope to get back on the field in a short time. I aim to return by early January, and I hope the final phase of my recovery goes well in Milan."

When asked about the most difficult phase after being injured, Bennacer explained:

"It's very tough, especially when coming back from a major injury. Before the injury, I had regained my form and was in a good physical and mental state. But injuries are part of the game; we can’t control them."

Bennacer acknowledged the impact of injuries on team results:

"Injuries naturally affect any team, regardless of the player involved. Every player is important, and we need everyone because the season is so long. Milan is a fantastic club that handles injury situations well, which is a hallmark of big clubs like Milan."

Commenting on a photo of his coach Paulo Fonseca, Bennacer remarked:

"The coach represents the team. We must always support him and give our best effort. Even if he yells a lot sometimes, it’s to push us to improve and move forward."
