Ivorian defender Emmanuel Agbadou took a major step in his career after the Abidjan native completed a transfer to English Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers on Thursday.
The 27-year-old joins Wolves after the club paid a €20 million fee to acquire Agbadou's services from French Ligue 1 club Stade de Reims. Agbadou made 75 appearances during his time with Reims, becoming an important contributor since joining from Belgian club Eupen ahead of the 2022-23 season. He previously represented US Monastir for a season after joining the Tunisian side from FC San Pédro where he graduated from the Ivorian club's academy.
Agbadou's strong form in Ligue 1 led to more playing time with the Ivory Coast national team. He appeared in five of six matches for The Elephants during their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign after missing out on the final squad for the 2023 edition played in Ivory Coast.
Wolves are currently locked into a fight to avoid relegation, sitting in 17th position on the 20-team table tied with Ipswich Town on 16 points from 20 matches. The club have the worst defensive record in the Premier League with 45 goals conceded so far this campaign. Agbadou will compete with the likes of Uruguayan defender Santiago Bueno, Portuguese player Toti and Craig Dawson for playing time in the center of the Wolves defense.
