The Ivory Coast Football Federation (FIF) confirmed the appointment of Reynald Pedros as the new head coach of the women's national side in a ceremony held at Abidjan.

The experienced 53-year-old Frenchman was unemployed for more than a year after he left his previous role as coach of the Morocco women's team in 2023. Pedros, a former FC Nantes midfielder, is well known for leading Olympique Lyonnais Women to back-to-back French league titles and he is also a two-time winner of the UEFA Women Champions League.

Pedros led Morocco to the final of the 2022 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) where they finished runner-up. In the summer of 2023, the Frenchman coached Morocco in their first ever FIFA Women's World Cup co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand where they progressed out of their group before losing 4-0 to Pedros' native country France in the Round of 16.

FIF hopes the vast experience and past successful stints of the new head coach will be of help to the national side. Ivory Coast will play the winner of Chad or Senegal in the last round of qualifying for the 2025 WAFCON in October.
